A Retrospective on the Out of Reach

Isn’t it funny that we all have that one person who lingers? An old friend, an old fling, someone who could’ve been, someone who did us wrong, a fantasy that will never happen. Everyone has that one person who lingers. We can’t help but think about them, even knowing they probably don’t think about us. It all comes down to how we retrospectively view—or even dramatize—our past experiences. As the details blur over time, our memory shifts, reshaping certain truths to justify our longing. It’s completely human—one of the deeper emotions we’re capable of feeling—a mix of melancholy and desire for something just out of reach.

Eventually, though, the lingering fades. It never quite disappears, but it softens, losing the weight it once carried. It’s interesting to realize that everyone can eventually just get over « it ». Even the most intense emotions and meaningful connections are fleeting. Simply put, nothing truly lasts & that’s polarizing to think about.
