Being Exposed

A Retrospective on the “LIBERTÉ?” Exhibition

Last Friday, September 12th, I had the honor of being a part of the first exhibition orchestrated by the collective Quoituart? — the event titled LIBERTÉ?

In a way, while being exhibited as an artist, I felt exposed as a person. Privacy is something I value deeply; few have access to all of who I am — it is simply my nature. I create because it allows me to touch something bigger than myself. It is a way to promote authenticity and share my vision of the world around me, while hopefully inspiring others to reach their own full authenticity.

That is the subject I wanted to base my installation on — authenticity. The name of the exhibition, “LIBERTÉ?”, translates to “FREEDOM?” in English. I’ve had many conversations, especially this summer, about the correlation between freedom & authenticity. When you are allowed to be your most authentic self, the relief & sense of freedom you feel are incomparable. It is one of the most intimate relationships you can have with yourself, and that, to me, is simply poetic.
