The Privilege of Time Passing by Slowly
I’ve come to realize how privileged it is to feel as though time goes by slowly. When we live through new experiences, each moment is uncharted territory for the brain. We notice the unfamiliarity of a feeling, a place, a routine—whatever form it takes. Somehow, when we encounter something new, our mind stretches it, making the moment feel richer and longer. Time itself doesn’t change, of course, but the density of our lived experience does. When time feels slow—when a single day feels like two—we’re fortunate to be present for so much life.
In the end, the slowness of time isn’t an inconvenience but a quiet reminder that we are fully, vividly alive.
